Scholar-Teacher Colloquia

Bring a teaching expert in your discipline to Rutgers

Add a disciplinary expert in teaching and learning to your seminar or colloquium series

The School of Arts and Sciences Office of Undergraduate Education will provide matching funding, up to $1,000 per speaker, for departments to bring colloquium speakers to present on teaching and learning topics.

We aim to support a wide range of events about teaching and learning, for instance:

  • Workshops on innovative teaching techniques
  • Workshops or presentations on the application of teaching and learning research to particular disciplinary contexts
  • Presentations on curricular innovations and their impact on student success
  • The use of instructional technology to enhance student learning
  • Presentations on innovative or impactful curricular partnerships
  • Presentations of research in the scholarship of teaching and learning or discipline-based education research

We ask that departments organizing a Scholar-Teacher Colloquium schedule two events:

  1. A presentation or workshop specifically aimed at the department’s faculty and students
  2. A presentation or workshop that may be of broader interest to faculty in SAS (The Office of Undergraduate Education will assist with the scheduling and marketing of this public event)

The OUE is excited to offer this support, but funding is limited. Please confirm funding availability before formally inviting a speaker by sending the following information to SAS Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment This email address is being protected from spambots. • Name, institutional affiliation, and CV (if available) of proposed speaker
  • Potential topic(s) for (1) departmental event and (2) broader-interest event
