Poor mental health has become a thriving epidemic across the country, and it is due in part to stigma and lack of awareness, which leave many affected individuals feeling unheard, alone, and lost. The effects of this issue are twofold in the special needs community, as intermediate and secondary schooling institutions often don’t give their special education students adequate exposure to health curricula.

Modern Implementations of Experiential Learning in Education

Our goal is to explore the benefits of experiential learning and how this method of learning can be achieved in the education system via the use of VR and other simulated reality technologies. There are many novel aspects of learning by experience that we want to look into, including its relation to the brain and its unique impressionable nature in terms of learning. At present, old-school methods of learning are uniform and outdated in an age of personalization and technological advancements. Researching potential implementations of cognitive science targeting experiential learning and individual variance can aid in revolutionizing and supplementing resources for the current education system.

We want to create a database that will be accessible to the public to educate them on the provenance of ancient gems. We have been thinking a lot about publishing the gems and the difficulties of making provenance (history of ownership of art pieces) easily accessible in a simple way, and we realized that the Met’s database has a provenance system. Our goal through this Interdisciplinary Research Team would basically be us creating a database- similar to the Met’s- about these gems that can later expand into further things.

Social Workers and Interpreters Training: Analysis of Curricular Needs and Proposal

The Center for Immigration Studies found that over 60 million residents in the United States speak a language other than English in their home, based on 2018 U.S. Census data (Ziegler & Camarota, 2019). California has the largest percentage of residents speaking a language other than English at home (45%), and New Jersey is the 4th in line with 32% of their residents speaking a language other than English at home(Ziegler & Camarota, 2019). Further, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality “Nearly 25 million people in the UnitedStates (8.6 percent) are defined as limited English proficient (LEP), meaning that they speak English less than "very well."

CSR: A Customizable Statistical Report Template for Organic Chemistry

The short-term goal of this IRT is to build, test, and validate an interactive and customizable statistical report (CSR) template database to be used to improve the Organic Chemistry courses. The mission of the Organic Chemistry Teaching team (Professors Williams, Roth, Le, Sethi, Roychowdhury, and Zhang), in collaboration with the Vice-Chair of the Undergraduate Program and the Chair of the department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB), is to improve student learning and student outcomes, student experience, and instructor experience. To date, manually assembled assessment reports have provided much value within and across our organic chemistry courses.
